COVID-19 Vaccines for Children 5-11

The CDC now recommends the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. Appointments for pediatric doses of the vaccine are becoming available across our region over the next few days:

First and Second Doses

Everyone age 12 and older is eligible to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine in New York state. Walk-ins are accepted for all regional health department and state-run clinics and some pharmacies. Those being vaccinated at their pharmacy can make an appointment or check with their pharmacy to see if they accept walk-ins.

Booster Shots and Third Doses

The CDC has recommended booster shots for all individuals 18 and older who have completed a primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine (either two doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine). Learn more about boosters and when you can get yours.

Third doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are also recommended for some individuals who are moderately to severely immunocompromised. Learn more.

Pfizer Vaccine Clinics

These clinics are administering the Pfizer vaccine and are open to individuals age 12 and older. Those younger than 18, with few exceptions, will need parent or guardian consent to receive the vaccine. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are also welcome.

COVID-19 Vaccines for Children 5 to 11

The following clinics offer pediatric doses of the Pfizer vaccine for children age 5 to 11. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who can provide consent for vaccination.

  • Saturdays: Pediatric COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 is available by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Dec. 11 Wyoming County Health Department, 5362 Mungers Hill Road, Silver Springs: 9 to 11 a.m. This clinic is offering only pediatric doses of the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. Vaccines for individuals 12 and Older

Dec. 8: First doses of Moderna vaccine for individuals 18 and older are available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments are required. Call 585-786-8890.

Booster Clinics

Dec. 8: Moderna Booster Clinic: 1 to 3 p.m. Eligible individuals include those who are 18 and older who received an initial dose of Johnson & Johnson at least two months ago or for qualifying individuals who have received two doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine more than six months ago. Please bring your vaccination card. Appointments are required. Make an appointment online or call 585-786-8890.

  • Moderna vaccine: First, second, and booster doses for qualifying individuals age 18 and older.
  • Pfizer vaccine: First, second, and booster doses for qualifying individuals age 12 and older (those younger than 18 must have parent/guardian consent for vaccination).
  • First and booster doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for qualifying individuals age 18 and older.
